Some more photos from Friday's Yankees / Oakland Game

The Yankees won, 8-3, and I was there. I also shot a little video, but I'm not sure it's worth posting. I didn't get my freebie bottle opener / key chain, and I don't know why, and I don't really care.

All of these were shot with a week old iPhone 3GS. All of the photos are untouched / unmanipulated. Hopefully, they're OK enough. And I suspect day game photos may look a little bit snappier.

Oh, the new stadium? I approve. But seeing the old stadium shrouded in construction netting made me a little sad.

Thank you Mr. Rizzuto

A few years back I met "The Scooter" outside of Yankee Stadium. Even though the handlers sent out to the parking lot wanted to get him into the ballpark quickly, he couldn't resist stopping for a moment to shake a few hands and talk a bit with fans. When they show the highlight/blooper reel from his broadcasting days, it brings back many childhood memories. He made watching a baseball game on TV fun and accessible, especially when the TV wasn't that good and the reception wasn't the best. So, thank you, sir. You will be missed. More here and here.

Five. Game. Sweep.

Some facts for your approval. One. Babe Ruth died on August 16, 1948. Two. On August 16, 2006 the New York Yankees broke ground for a new Yankee Stadium to replace "The House That Ruth Built." Three. On August 18, 2006, the Yankees went to Boston for a five game series against the Red Sox. On August 21, 2006, the Yankees left Boston after five consecutive victories against the Red Sox.

Coincidence? Let the conspiracy theories begin!
